Science and Technology Daily: The First Intelligent Computing Cross Architecture Platform in China Appears

On October 30th, the reporter learned that China Mobile, in collaboration with 13 industry partners, released the first one-click cross architecture migration platform that supports intelligent computing applications in China - Computing Power Native “Xinhe”. This independent innovation achievement is of great significance to the prosperity and development of China’s independent intelligent computing chips and software ecosystem.

In the field of intelligent computing, chips are the foundation and software are the core. With the emergence of diversified heterogeneous intelligent computing chips, the industry has formed a multi-set "AI framework + toolchain + hardware" integrated software and hardware vertical well ecosystem. The upper layer applications are deeply bound to the lower layer intelligent computing chips, but this has also brought challenges such as high application development migration costs, difficulty in gathering intelligent computing resources, and the lack of strong intelligent computing chip enterprises.

To shield the differences in heterogeneous hardware and integrate intelligent computing vertical well ecology, China Mobile has taken the basic software stack of intelligent computing as the key focus of research and development. In 2022, China Mobile jointly proposed computing native original technology with other industries, and launched the “Xinhe” plan in 2023. In the research and development process, the native “Xinhe” platform of computing power has broken the traditional model of industry fragmentation, established a collaborative bridge of intelligent computing ecology, and developed the end-to-end development, compilation, and operation mechanisms and related standards based on typical applications. It has formed a closed-loop research and development system for platform software, chip matchmaking and adaptation, and application integration verification.

The platform can provide cross architecture one-stop solutions based on the four self-developed core components. The platform has achieved one-click deployment and real-time migration of typical intelligent computing applications such as image processing and video analysis among three intelligent computing chip enterprises, with a migration speed of less than 10 seconds and a performance loss of no more than 15%. The relevant person in charge of China Mobile stated that the platform has preliminary commercial conditions and will play an important role in improving the autonomous and controllable level of intelligent computing power networks in the future.
